ByteX and Cenne Combine to Build the Financial Infrastructure for Trade Between North America, India and Africa

The merger unites Cenne's AI-native business finance platform with ByteX's regulated cross-border payment infrastructure, creating a single company focused on the trade corridors global fintech has left unbuilt.

VANCOUVER and TORONTO — September 9, 2026. ByteX Financial and Cenne Financial today announced a strategic merger that brings the two companies together under the ByteX brand, uniting the platform that businesses use to manage international finance with the payment infrastructure that moves the money beneath it.

The logic of the combination is to continue building the corridors where cross-border business is growing fastest between North America, South Asia and Africa while global payment companies serve the least. ByteX has operated proprietary, regulated payment rails on the Canada–India and United States–India corridors since 2023 while processing more than CAD $3.6 billion in cumulative transaction volume.

Cenne, launched at Web Summit Vancouver in 2026, built its AI-native finance platform for small and medium-sized businesses trading between Canada and African markets. Together, they form one company that owns both layers, including the rails and the experience, backed by industry leaders.

Strategic Rationale

One platform, both layers

Businesses get accounts, payments, foreign exchange and finance operations in one experience, running on settlement infrastructure the company owns rather than resells.

Live infrastructure, not a roadmap

ByteX's Canada–India and US–India rails have operated since 2023, serving money services businesses, FX operators and payment merchants.

A regulatory foundation years in the making

The company holds payment service provider registration under Canada's Retail Payment Activities Act and FINTRAC money services business registrations, with license applications progressing in India and Nigeria.

The corridor the world is turning toward

India is the world's largest remittance recipient and Africa is home to the fastest-growing group of trading economies; the infrastructure connecting them to North America remains fragmented, slow and expensive.

What Comes Next

The combined company will deepen its North America–India corridors while extending direct settlement and local-currency payout capabilities into African markets, beginning with corridors connecting Canada and the United States to Nigeria. ByteX is also growing with ambitions to expand into five additional African and Caribbean payment corridors in the first half of 2027.

Alongside its direct platform, ByteX will continue expanding the API and white-label infrastructure that lets fintechs, FX operators and marketplaces embed cross-border capabilities without building settlement, liquidity and compliance systems themselves.

Leadership Quotes

Businesses in Canada should not need a patchwork of banks, payment providers, FX platforms and reconciliation tools simply to operate internationally. This combination connects the intelligence and experience of Cenne with rails ByteX has built and scaled since 2023.

Onyeka Akumah

Chief Executive Officer, ByteX

We are building the financial infrastructure for the next era of trade between North America, Asia and Africa and we are building it from Canada. The corridors we serve are not niches; they are where global commerce is currently growing. A business owner should be able to pay a supplier in Mumbai or fund a contractor in Lagos with the same confidence as a local transfer. Owning the infrastructure is what makes the promise real, and why this combination is the beginning and not a conclusion.

Charles Sanda

President & Chief Commercial Officer, ByteX

We have proven that proprietary rails create real advantages in speed, control and economics. Connecting those rails to Cenne's business-finance experience gives customers the full journey; initiation, FX, settlement, reconciliation and reporting, with the complexities kept where they belong: in the background.

Building Infrastructure for the Next Era of Global Trade

The map of global trade has already been redrawn. Goods, capital and talent now move between North America, South Asia and Africa at a pace the incumbent financial system was never designed to serve, and no company standing on one layer of the stack could close that gap alone.

This combination exists because the moment demanded both layers at once: settlement rails that are already live and regulated, and a financial platform businesses actually want to run their operations on.

ByteX enters this next era owning its infrastructure, earning its licences and serving the corridors others dismissed as too hard, which is exactly what makes them worth winning.

What begins today will be built the way lasting infrastructure is always built: corridor by corridor, licence by licence, customer by customer, until moving money across three continents is as unremarkable as moving it across town.
